Resilient Cities, Healthy People
This project is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union.
’’Resilient cities, healthy people’’ is an exciting new European Funded project which Roscommon LEADER Partnership are involved with. It is a proactive response to the escalating need for mental health promotion and for the prevention of mental health challenges within urban areas, with a specific focus on vulnerable populations such as refugees, immigrants, victims of domestic abuse, elders, and NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) youth.
Goal: to enhance mental health by empowering the vulnerable groups and the communities around them, and building their capacity to be more supportive and inclusive.
Objectives:
- To develop the capacity of local social structures, groups and NGOs, to act as safety nets for their members’ mental health.
- To empower and capacitate individuals in local communities to act as supports for each other based on proximity, similarity of background or experiences, or simply on shared humanity.
- To generate and support local initiatives that address the social factors of mental health, for and together with people who belong to vulnerable groups.
