Description of the project

The Resource Centre is a project established and managed by Roscommon LEADER Partnership, Irish Prisons Service and Citizen Information Centre.

The FRC aims to provide a safe pleasant environment for adults and children visiting family & friends in prison. All visitors are met in a friendly manner and treated with dignity and respect. Visitors are offered a full range of information services and links to relevant agencies such as MABS.

The Family Resource Centre constitutes partnerships between statutory bodies, Community voluntary sector, other support groups, various agencies, local businesses.

Staff encourage and provide visitors with the opportunity to communicate any difficulties that they may have and wish to discuss in a confidential manner. With access to supports within the prison service to meet the needs of the service users, the centre enables the families to feel secure thus giving the service user trust and confidence in the service allowing for a safe and protected environment to discuss matters which may be hard to discuss elsewhere.

The FRCs provides equal opportunity to everyone irrespective of their circumstance, race, gender, disability, religion, and sexual orientation.
